On February 8th at 5.30 pm KTU community members are invited to a screening of the
documentary “A Letter to Ukraine” and a discussion at the University Campus Library (Studentų st. 48). The
event will be attended by the film’s director Vytautas Puidokas and moderated by Associate Professor
Nerijus Čepulis. Registration is required for the event.
Russian military invasion in February 2022 irreversibly changed lives of all Ukrainians and interrupted peace
in Europe. Those who directly experience the war have a clear choice: to fight or to escape. The further
from the front lines, the more questions emerge: to keep interest or to ignore, to welcome or to turn away,
to donate or to go fight?
The main protagonist of this observational documentary is a person next to the war: a passerby, a
protester, a volunteer, a medic. This film is a an unique document of the period and unprecedented unity
experienced during it. Have we done enough? Might our efforts become a myth and instruction for the
future generations? Could we influence the outcome of the war? Or maybe we got tired and gave up too
soon? People trying to answer these and other questions bring us closer to our own nature, which, sadly, is
revealed best in moments of conflict.
Event is organised in the framework of the Erasmus+ project “Supporting Ukraine in Promoting Civic
Engagement in Baltic Universities” (Baltics4UA) 2022-2-EE01-KA220-HED-000096422
